What is BlackBerry?

BlackBerry is a wireless mailbox platform that truly pushes e-mails and other data to your device immediately when it is available. There is no need to dial up to receive data, or not even an ‘automatic check’ every 5 minutes. Mailbox data like emails, agenda and address book items

are sent directly to your device within a split second – worldwide. All mailbox data is synchronized bi-directional which means that if you change an appointment on your BlackBerry, it automatically and immediately changes the status on your PC mailbox and vice versa.

3 ways to connect a BlackBerry to your mailbox:

1. BlackBerry Enterprise Server
This is the ‘corporate’ solution that requires a dedicated server connected to the existing mail server. All the data is wirelessly synchronized between the BlackBerry device and mailbox. This solution requires an initial investment in hardware, software and installation of about € 7.000. This is excluding the BlackBerry devices, admin training, support and ongoing maintenance. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server solution is for up to 2.000 users per server.

2. Colibri Premium
This is a solution for companies with their own Microsoft Exchange Server and want to connect 1 – 20 BlackBerry users to their mailbox. Instead of investing in hardware, software, training and ongoing maintenance, this service hosts the BlackBerry environment for you. It synchronizes email, calendar and address

book items between the BlackBerry device and the mailbox. Instead of a capital investment you pay a monthly subscription fee. Learn more…

If you don’t have a Microsoft Exchange server, we can offer that as a hosted service as well. Learn more...

3. BlackBerry Internet Service
This is an email forward service. You need to create a forward rule on your mailbox to an BIS-email address. That BIS mailbox will forward the mail to your BlackBerry device, there is no synchronization between the BlackBerry device and mailbox. The BIS mailbox is limited to several MB’s which means that emails sent to you will not be forwarded to your BlackBerry device until you go online and empty your BIS mailbox.

GPXS does not offer the BIS solution.
